What is IMAGINE SCIENCE DALLAS?
In 2015 The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Dallas, Girls Inc. of Metropolitan Dallas, Texas A&M Agrilife Extension 4-H, and YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas came together to offer exciting ways to get Dallas youth engaged in STEM.was one of three national pilots in which
selected the Pleasant Grove community to provide several pop up events and two STEM Summer Day Camps; one at Comstock Middle School and one at Lang Middle School. All together they were able to reach nearly 1000 youth throughout summer and fall. The pilot was such a success that Dallas was funded for another year and returned for a second summer to Pleasant Grove. Working with school leadership in the area selected three locations for Summer 2016, Comstock Middle School, Balch Springs Middle School and Florence Middle School. The youth enjoyed activities in themes from Entomology to Engineering, each week also followed by a fun field trip. It was a fun and exciting summer and we are grateful to the youth and staff who made Imagine Science Dallas a success!
Fall 2016 was a great success as well; we served 70 youth in the Pleasant Grove community. We worked with Junk Drawer Robotics a program of 4-H and some classic favorites like making goo, cork rockets, and bird house building. We are done for the 2016 year but keep posted as 2017 will be just as fun!
